We have been blessed to live on a family property in the Northern Rivers region where the mountains meet the ocean. Until my grandparents bought this property, they often moved from one place to another, sometimes moving several times a year. Once they found this property, they lived here for the remainder of their lives, with my grandfather transforming it into a tropical fruit farm, where they grew pawpaws, bananas, mangoes, and avocados. My grandmother had a small herd of goats, cows, chickens, and always had fresh vegetables growing in her garden.  When we visited as children, we often had fresh eggs, milk, homemade butter, cottage cheese, kefir, and yoghurt, and lots of fresh greens and vegetables to eat. She strongly believed in 'Paddock to Plate'. My mother Julia, has handed this teaching down to my siblings and I, just as we have to our children. I’ve been lucky enough to raise my own family on our shared family farm, where my boys have been able to experience picking and eating spray-free fruit off the trees and growing some of our own vegetables, learning the value of eating natural, fresh foods.
